I'm not sure which I love more...the sushi or the couple that owns this place!

My husband and I are big yam roll fans and Akebono makes the best! Just the right amount of crunch from the batter and the yam is cooked just right, not mushy.  The many other sushi rolls we've tried here have also been delish!  The food is made fresh as its ordered, nothing is prepackaged. I love it when my sushi rice is still warm from the pot! Yum!

The owners are so delightful; they greet their customers with a smile, always thank us for our business, and are genuinely kind and likeable people.  This is another local family-owned business that we're happy to support!

Came here for a quick lunch today because I'm usually around this neighborhood pretty often, and I'm a sushi lover so I just gotta check this place out when I heard they had just reopened after changing locations.

I ordered the Sushi Maki combo, which consist of salmon and tuna roll + a California roll + a small bowl of Miso soup. The total ended up being $11.29, which isn't bad, considering.

The sushi tasted fine but that's where it kinda starts to go downhill. The miso soup had a very slight subtle off flavor to it. It wasn't disgusting or anything but something about it just seemed off about it, but luckily I didn't get sick from it though.

The other thing I observed isn't really an issue, but its just that the stuff member's attitude didn't seem to be all that perfect. She wasn't rude or anything but just seemed like she could've been more pleasant when preparing to take my order. Again' isn't an issue, but putting up a bit of a smile wouldn't hurt.

Verdict = You could do a lot worse in terms of getting something to eat, because the food is relatively okay, but it's better to just go to the sushi joint right outside of the quay, or go up a couple blocks and eat at one of the other many Japanese restaurants, like literally there's almost a full dozen of them within a several block radius from there.

Akebono has moved to where the crepes place used to be and has a new owner. It now has bar side seating which is great on busy days at the quay when seating is hard to find. Really enjoyed eating sushi here. The sushi itself is excellent. The service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

This is my go to sushi lunch as I work near the Lonsdale Quay. I love the dynamite roll from here!  Friendly staff.

This sushi is the yummiest, freshest, and cheapest sushi I've ever had. Plus, the couple that runs it are so sweet and helpful! It's a pick-up and go kind of place, but there's seating in the market. I love this place!!!
